The Kilimanjaro Bamboo Linen Table Lamp Design
Our indoor lighting should support the natural circadian rhythm of our bodies. This is accomplished by regulating our light exposure so that we are exposed to the appropriate spectrum of light at the appropriate time.
Climate issue addressed This bamboo and eco-linen table lamp addresses climate change in its production by preventing pollution with the use of sustainable and natural materials, promoting and using clean solar energy as a solution for people in need of light and power; and supporting reforestation projects with the Eden Reforestation Project.
Sustainable materials It is built using
.Ethical production This product ethical production supports positive communities, fair and safe work. 5% of the value of these lights goes to the WakaWaka Foundation - a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands- that supports the distribution of WakaWaka solar lamps, to give them to people in need of light, located in areas of humanitarian crisis. The foundation works closely with aid agencies to share WakaWaka lamps. These WakaWaka solar lamps are the most efficient currently available: One day of charging allows to use 80 hours of light, particularly useful in areas without access to electricity (i.e. 1 billion people). This solution is also a safe alternative to kerosene lamps, which pollute and generate many domestic accidents. Having access to light also means an increase in the standard of living for each family: the WakaWaka lamp allows children to study in the evening and families to cook, work and live safe. For every light purchased, someone else receives light.
Best environmental practices Within its practices to support the environment, it works with circular economy by reusing resources, offsetting emissions with the use of natural raw materials, and further developing the use of renewable energy with its structural partnership with the WakaWaka foundation, which mission is to enable access to sustainable, solar energy for people in need of light and power. Solar energy is the solution for people who live off-grid (over 1 billion) without access to electricity in low income countries. Access to light and power means access to education and communication, to income generating opportunities, to self-belief and a better future.
